2007 Annual Report

I want to thank everyone for all of the support and help that you have given over the past year. It has been a remarkable year. I was driving home after visiting Ann and I got to thinking about the past year. Ann had just given me two bags of precious baby sweaters with matching hats. She is home bound and spends much of her time making these beautiful sweater sets for the babies. I thought of "Jo" our happy (crochet) hooker. She handed in her 80th afghan the other day. She started making and donating the afghans in June 2007.

I thought about the Meredith Seniors (now called Inter Lakes Senior Center). Every week they have a bags of items they have made for the Baby Threads projects. I thought of all the folks who have mailed items and dropped off items. I thought of Linda, ZellaJane, Catherine, and Olive. I thought about lots of folks in the community who sew, knit, or crochet like Judy, Avis, Emma, Jane, Edith, Gemma, and folks like the family in Alton who helped sew Christmas stockings.

I thought about the clubs and groups who helped over the past year. The Altrusa Club, the Astra Club, the Waukewan Ladies Golf League, the General Federation of Women’s Club, The St James Episcopal Preschool, St James Episcopal children’s Sunday School, Manchester Relief Society, The Laconia Elder Friendship Club, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Laconia Savings Bank, Laconia Savings Bank employees, Meredith Village Savings Bank, Meredith Village Savings Bank employees, Belmont Self Storage, Lakes Region Nursey Guild, Vacman and Bobbin, Project Linus, to name a few.

I thought about Baby Threads volunteers and thrift shop volunteers. I thought about the Stephenson family who does our truck loading and lugging. This is only a partial list. The thing I was realizing as I was thinking, is that there are so many folks helping. They say it takes a village to raise a child. What does it take to run Baby Threads? It takes YOU, each and everyone of you. Thank you so very much! Working together we are truly making a difference.
